interesting problem

I have a 77' F150 with a 351m and recently repaced the starter relay, when I came across a problem I could not handle. I brought it to my mechanic, and he fixed, but told me I wired the relay wrong, and that he fixed it. when I got home I "shut it off", but it was still running with the keys in hand. when I bought it, the guy told me he and a friend had to rewire the whole electrical, and also mentioned not to put the key to accessories, which accidentally happend. I think that maybe there is a problem with the ignition switch or the battery is giving direct power somewhere. can anyone help me?

Was the engine running or the starter?

At the fender blue-grommet module:
the white wire should have 12V in the "start" and "run" position.
the red wire should have 12V in "start" pos only.
The coil should have 6V in the "run" pos, 12 V in start.
There is a ballast resistor somewhere between the key and the coil, but I have no idea where.
I am pretty sure of this, but it is an old hand made diagram that is pretty rough. Anyone feel free to correct me!
Both module and coil have to be powered up for the truck to run, and, although dropping power to either will kill it, obviously, both should disconnect from main power for proper operation.
Hope this helps, GL.

I know if the switch is wired wrong, it will stay running.

No, that is the wiring for the ignition module on the fire wall, the two pin connector. white & red wire, these supply power to the module.
