Front Axle Noise? 99 F250LD <150 7700>

I'm garageless since I moved into the new place out in the woods. I don't like doing ball joints without air tools. It goes smoother with the right stuff, I might suck it up though.
I set my tire pressure at 50psi and figured I'd get better mileage. Then I moved to the 4 wheelers paradise of a driveway, and all the parts fell off -- the antenna lead came loose, my exhaust system dropped, and the front suspension went bad.
I replaced the shocks, I went with Monroe Sensatracs... can't tell the difference from OEM parts ride wise but the old ones were worn. I also dropped the air pressure to 35psi... The gas mileage actually improved slightly over the last month.
The skid plates could be part of an offroad package or the owner added them, the offroad package had come with some improved shock package, too. The 250s are known for strange combos in the power train dept, so why not optional equipment too?
