I forgot about cheaperthandirt. Used to buy a lot of stuff there, some great prices and some hard to find oddball stuff too. The SKS will thank you!

Got a 30 and 50 round for the SKS. It's good fun and a hell of a lot cheaper than an AK. And for the close range bang I keep a 30rd in my TEC-9 just incase someone ever forgets which house they live in. Damn, I just figured out why I'm always broke! Still haven't figured out why every thread I touch completely falls off topic.

I've got my HK and snub nosed shotgun for in-home persuasion. Want to pick up an MP5. Although personally, I'd rather decapitate them with my Tachi. And just to keep things on topic, the butt of your SKS CAN be used as an emergency shovel

And a properly equipped SKS will have a bayonet which can be used for digging . . . or stabbing small woodland creatures should you need sustanence if your truck leaves you in the middle of the woods. Boyscouts, be prepared.

Pro, is Oregon a class 3 state??

Yea, mine has the bayo but I had to take it off when I put on the flash suppressor, er...uh, "muzzle break". I don't know if we are class 3 or not Ivan...don't pay much attention the rules and regs.

Oh, just wondering . . . I had looked into an MP5 but WA are commies and won't let me have one. Could be worse though, could be living in CA. My SKS doesn't seem to be up to specs either but it came that way, honest.

Btw, you can use the tip of your bayo or tip of a 7.62 to insert into your valve stem for fast airdown in case you don't have keys or a screwdriver with you but happen to have an SKS and need good traction in mud.

We must be Class 3 then because I can legally buy an MP5 after paying for the appropriate license, I looked into it. No big deal other than coming up with the coin. Well, that and convincing the wife I need more guns. I always pack when I wheel. Never know what kook you'll run into up in the mountains.

Only when you wheel? Damn, we've got work to do. I'm more afraid of running into kooks in town than in the mountains so I always carry a Glock27. Never do know when you'll need it. Ironically, or maybe not, I haven't bought any firearms since I bought my truck. I'm still dying to get a Franchi SPAS-12 but at this point I'm more concerned about tires and all that junk.

Class 3 states allow you to own full auto, 3 round burst, 'noise suppresors', etc as long as you pay the $200 tax stamp. WA sucks. I need to move.

Kevin, when you're done there you can come bleed my brakes. I don't know what happened but I got mush pedal after last weekend. Going to have to add that to my "to do" list for tomorrow.

(ENTER OFFROAD TECH INFO SOMEWHAT RELATIVE TO THE THREAD SUBJECT)And of course, in the event your safety is threatened in the woods when you're wheeling you can use a shovel to defend yourself.

Yea, always when I wheel and ride, but its spotty other than that. I do have my CCW though. I suppose I'd carry more but if push comes to shove I'd rather kill them with my bare hands. Much more satisfying.

Were we talking about emergency shovels for wheeling or burying bodies? Or burying bodies while we're wheeling?

No, I was just thinking that in the event that you got stuck and forgot to bring a board to shove under your tire a body might suffice.

Bare hands . . . if only I had taken the time to learn some useful self defense . . . one of these days but until then . . .

Btw, don't ever use your bare hands, forensics is a PITA. Be sure to wear gloves which brings me back to wheeling, if you have a wooden handled shovel you should always wear gloves to prevent blisters and splinters.

and i thought i was weird for carrying a ka-bar marine knife and a 2 handed machette. I went out and bought a short handled shovel. It has a handle on the end of it and it fits in the back of my jeep no problem
