Problems with the factory Goodyears
Anyone else had a problem where the factory Goodyears start to "cup" on the edges and wear out early? The tech at the Ford dealer told me that he's seen this often and there is no recourse through Goodyear or Ford. He actually had the same problem on his own Ranger and went with Pirelli Scorpions. Anyone tried these? I do mostly highway driving, but also plenty of deep snow in the winter here. I was told I could only use my current tires for another 3K miles, so I ordered them for next week. Any suggestions or feedback?

Well I'll be honest with you. I've got 13,000 miles on my truck, and I don't see any abnormal wearing at all with the Goodyears. I've owned BF Goodrich, Goodyear, Firestone, Pirelli, etc. in the past, and by far the worst tires I ever owned were the Pirelli Scorpions. I had them on my '99 Ranger 4x4 and they were awful! They rode like a tobacco wagon. I had them balanced twice at two different places and they just wouldn't ride well at all. I hated every second with those tires. I said I'll never own another set of Pirelli's again.

My cousin had same problem with tires on her Explorer. I asked the mechanic who does my alignments and he said shock absorbers were probably shot. She had em replaced along with tires and the problem didn't reoccur.
