Rotor opinions - need to replace

While I'm about ready to get into the ball joint replacement, i'm going to replace the front brakes including rotors - last time I just had them turned, and it's due for new rotors this time.

Any suggestions on type/manufacturer of rotor that is better suited for the heavy braking of the Bronco? My commute to work alone takes me down several long, hilly roads. What about cross drilled rotors to reduce heat buildup??

some dont like the crossed drilled because they feel that mud and stuff would get into the holes. I know a few bronco owners that have them and wheel in alot of nasty stuff and never had a problem. they did say that those rotors helped there breaking over stock for sure. the sloted rotors are good to if your worried about mud and stuff . might as well get new calipars to then if your getting new rotors.

I put on a set of the standard rotors from Autozone about 6 months ago. No probs since and I have towed some heavy loads up and down the mountains here.

And no slots or holes to fill with goo when off roading.

If you go with stock rotors a good set of performance friction z-rated brake pads will do the trick. You can pick these pads up at Pep boys or Autozone parts store.

im with the other guys. Go with the simple autozone rotors, but if your serious about your braking then invest in some good heavy duty brakes. Dont waste the $$$ on the rotors, put it toward better brakes.

I'm running 38's on my '78 and am currently running slotted rotors, big difference in stopping with bigger tires. I haven't had any problems with mud in the rotors, seems like the heat from the brakes dries it and it falls out pretty quickly, but I'm not wheeling in the gooey flat lander stuff either.

The slotted and drilled rotors are going to disapate heat more quickly and should help out if your running large tires.
