Ok on the inside of my door on my 2000 EXPY EB 2wd, it says front tires are to be 22psi and the rear should be 26psi. is that right? it seems way to low. I have 285/60/17. the same type it has on the door panel.
also, what would be a good size tire if I am looking for something with a little more hight. not looking to change the wheels. any help please..
mine is also 30 front and 35 back. I have the same size tires you do. As for the increase in height, It seems you are already running larger than stock tires. My 99 EB 4x4 only has 265/60/17s. I'm thinking about going with the 285/60/17s when these wear out. Going from a 265 to a 285 raises the height about 1 inch.
22 does seem low although 285/60 is a big, wide tire. I've seen the 60's as low as 26 for trucks; may be necessary to keep the tread flat. It surprised my Ford dealer too!
Generally speaking you can go down 10 points in the first when you go up an aspect ratio in the other; eg., 275/70. Go to tirerack.com and pick a size with the same revolutions per mile, and then make sure it has equal or greater load capacity. Unless, of couse, you like a different size; but keep in mind that you should then recalibrate your speedometer/odometer, and performance will change.
