can i rinoline the inside of my cab and then put down some sort of sound deadner and then more rino?
i want the ease of cleaning but want good sound deadner quality.
any thoughts or tips would be appreciated
Okay, I just searched for a good hour and couldn't find it but we had a thread in the Offroad forum about this maybe a month or two ago. Several have done this. The warnings were if you do the whole interior the Rhino line will feel like a cheese grater on your arm if you rub it on the door. Also, people using it on the floor found it really collected dirt and was hard to clean. Positive notes were you could hose out your cab when it got dusty. Several people did mention that it had no impact on road noise, which they thought it would. I have a good friend who installs custom sound in cars. He suggested if a person wants sound proofing and a liner, line the Rhino-Line, to put the sound deadening material directly on the floorboard and then spray over it with a lining or undercoating. He said it doesn't seem to be as effective if you go the other way around.
Btw, if you're looking for an excellend sound deading material at a decent price visit FatMat.com. I've got it in my truck, all except the floor so far and it works awesome. About half the price of Dynomat and works just as well. Got pics in my gallery if you want to see how it's applied.
3m makes a rubberized under coating that is made for sound deadening. You can get a "body shotz" spray gun for $30 buck and do it your self with more control and less cost and prep. You would need an air source.
I did the inside of my baja bug myself. I am doing my truck next. I used Duplicolor from pep-boys $50 a gallon, and bought the spray gun from eastwood for $15. the duplicolor is about half the price of herculiner. 1 gallon should do your cab. Dont buy the individual spray-cans, you will spend more money and it will take forever to do your cab. they are only good for touch ups. The duplicolor has a fairly smooth finish, its much smoother than rhino or line-x and is about one third the cost or less.
Spray the bare floor, also good for rust proofing, and put down your insulation, then put a rubber floor-mat down instead of carpet. you can get the floor mat from JCWhitney, it is made to fit your truck just like carpet.
