Exclamation C6 Transmission problem

I have a 1989 F250,351w, 4X4, the C6 was rebuilt about 85000km ago and very recently started to cause problems. At about 100km/hr it does not want to pick its gear, constantly shifting up and down. At about 110 it will do it again. I also noticed that when I come to a hill and descend it shifts into second and wont come back up. I had a transmission service performed, the oil is not burnt nor does it make any real noises, the tranny seems to have lots of power in it still. Does anyone know if there is an adjustment that can be made or does it need to be rebuilt.

Thanks

Boyd

I think the only adjustments you can make are to the shift lever and the band unless you had a shift kit installed. It is easy to adjust the band if you have a manual. It could be the vac. modulator or the fluid level. The vac. modulator is right on the side of the tranny and has a hose running to it, very easy to change but a lot of fluid comes out if you do it when the tranny is full. If that module isn't getting the right air pressure or it has gone bad wierd things can happen.

First thing to check is your vacuum line to the vacuum modulator. Check for leaks, etc. Also check the kickdown linkage for binding, stuck, etc.
