Has anyone every used the G-tech pro (www.gtechpro.com), an accelerometer based performance meter? It looks a lot like a radar detector (windshield bracket and power cord) but measures the g-forces exerted over a period of time. With an accurate measure of weight, it can measure horsepower from the acceration reading. The website say it:
Measurements:
Reaction-Time
0-60ft time
0-330ft time
0-60mph time
1/8mile E.T and speed
1000ft time
1/4 mile E.T. and speed

I think this would be a great way to measure any performance gains from mods (especially chips) because it is hard to guage increase from seat of the pants experiences. For $250, I think it would be a great investment. I am thinking of buying one to guage the performance of my V10 truck with 4.30 gears against the 6 liter with 3.73 gears that I am looking at. What do you think the salesman would say if I brought it on the test drive?
Does the salesmen have to know ????
They have NEVER stopped me from flooring a brand new truck....
The salesmen when I was lookin didn't even go after the first test drive...
but maybe that's because he was washing the 4x4 Ex we took out and he directed me thru the river bottoms !!!!
Oh, was that nice beautiful thing dirty !?!!>!>!>!>
The Gtech and the Gtech Pro, which gives you more information, work fairly well . They are as accurate as the information you provide them with. The weight of the vehicle is one of the most important perimeters needed to get accurate numbers, but they are a fun and useful tool and a lot easier on your vehicle than dyno runs
