Axle Type

I have 1984 F-250 4X4. im trying to figure out what kind of axles i have and the gears that are in them. the only numbers i could find on the back are "84049A", the are right under the U-joint and yoke. i havent looked in the front yet, but i will post the numbers as soon as i get them. thanks

to find your gear ratio, you'll actually hafta just about pull the ring and pinion to do the math on the numbers stamped on them...

On an 84, you'll have a dana 60 in the back, and more than likely, a TTB Dana 44HD in the front. Look at the axles codes on the door, more than likely you'll be able to match them up.
