New key assembly or not?

I just replaced the ignition switch on my 78 250, I cant get the key assembly out of the factory switch. Do I need to replace the whole key assembly???Thanks.

To remove key assembly from switch turn to accessory possition, use a small wire to push button in hole above, to left of key hole, turn counter clockwise.
