I have one of those three-light lightbars I'd like to install on the back of my '03 F250. I don't have much experience with vehicle lighting, so what's the simplest way to install this. One of my buddies at work mention a prong that sticks into the main wiring harness, but I'm not sure what he's talking about. Could I get a little help???
If you don't mind asking, where did you get your lightbar? Which one is it? I have considered this as well, and will wait and see what your results are before attempting it.

If it is the type I am thinking about it has a single element bulbs so you will only be able to have one function work such as brake or taillights but not both. If you have the tow package, it is wired for trailer wiring. It has the 4 prong and the big round heavy-duty receptacles. I would attach to the tail light wire going into the 4-prong unit. You can test with a test light (12VDC) to see which is the taillight if that is what you want. You can buy in line wire splices at almost every auto parts place. It has one side that lets the wire (existing) go all the way through and the other side allows you to slide it in and basically make a Tee into the existing wiring by clamping a metal piece in both wires at the same time. You can tell any of these guys what you want and they will point you to them and show how they work. Just put it around the wire you want to tap, insert your pig tail to the new light, squeeze the metal crimp down into the wires, close the plastic cover and your done.
I have found the Altec Product (60" led bar), but I don't want one that big. I am looking for one closer to 12", that will function like the Altec which will work just like taillights.
I got mine at the ford dealer. It was forty bucks. It had a pronged plug on it , but I couldn't find anything at the back of the truck like that to plug into, so just cut the plug off and spliced (soldered) wires into a runnng light wires nearby. Was really simple and the two screws to hold the thing in place fit into two existing holes between the bumper and the tail gate. Easy job.
Oh, I forgot to mention, you will need a couple feet or so of stranded 16 ga. wire to reach the tie in with the existing running lt wires truck harness. I think this 3 lt set comes on duelies. I have seen them several times on duelies for some reason. I have an 04 Super Duty, short bed.
No, I din't have pics, and it wasn't a ford brand. It was something else but it all fit so nice except for that attached connector that I cut off. They do look kinda cool tho huh.
I don't have a test light that'll work. Do you know which wire is the taillight wire? There is a yellow, green, white, and brown w/ white stripe.
Edit
FYI, Steve83 posted this in another thread:
The black 4-pin connector at the rear (C-407)has:
DkGn (Fuse F - R turn signal)
Ye (Fuse G - L turn signal)
Br/W (trailer marker relay in eng. cmptmt. fuse block)
Wh (ground to nearby frame)
