Can anyone tell what are all the things I need to sandblast rust from my chassis. I know I need a sandblaster but I'm not sure how to do it can anyone please help me out.
It would proably be cheaper to find a business that does this kind of work and take it there or better yet has a " You Do the work " with their equipment.
That's what I do.
I have a Sears sand blaster, and a decent compressor, but should have a larger one. I use play sand from the home improvement center, cheap, and works OK. A water separator in the air line is a big help.
You'll need a face mask, or glasses and a painter's mask. The sand goes everywhere, so you'll have to do it somewhere you don't want sand to wind up, outside is best.
whetever I do I like to do it myself so then I can say I did it also then I have the tools I have a big air compressor. So all I need is a sandblaster?? I saw one for 399.99 its a 100lbs pressure its that good also would it be better to buy a cabnit style or the tanks style? and do I need a mixing ratio for mixing anything like sand & water or other stuff. Thanks al your help will be appreciated.

I have a small stand alone unit. It holds about one 50 lb bag of sand. I think it was about $70.
You don't mix water with it. The sand must be dry, or it will clog the nozzle. That's why I mentioned the water seperator. There are other mediums for blasting, but for me, the cheap 'ole sand works fine. What was left over in the driveway was just swept onto the yard. You can't do that with other mediums.
The type work you're going to do will determine the type blaster you get. A cabinet is good for small stuff, but you can't do body panels and stuff with it.
Hey guys I looked or that sandblaster at sears in canada and all I could find is the 100 lbs sandblaster will that work ok. and what I want to sandblast is the diff. cover on my axal so I can paintit the sae color as the truck and some rusted chrome tailpipes and can I do this with this type of blaster and what kind of sant do I need can I get the # or type of info of the sand that I need.
Me too. I have the same blaster and it has served me well. I use my welder helmet (I take the dark lens out and leave the clear) and use heavy gloves when I'm blasting. I've mostly used it on small parts. Good luck.

Don’t forget about a good cartridge type respirator, as the dust can be lethal. I use masonery sand from Lowes and run in through a screen before using it.
