10.25 full float
is this the stock rear in a 1990 f250 custom and if so can you use semi float gears in it and are there any specific years that use different gears than others

Some F250's got the full float 10.25, and others got the semi-float. I'm not sure what year they started using the semi-float axle. If you have the 8800 lb GVWR, you likely have the full-floater. You will see the big drive hub sticking out of the center of the rear wheels if the axle is a full-floater. I don't know if the gears are interchangeable between the semi- and full-float 10.25's, though I would think they would be. When I was searching for gears for my 10.25 full-floater, I don't remember running accross seperate part numbers for the semi-float axle. In '99 with the SuperDuty trucks, Ford went to the 10.50" axle, which looks nearly the same on the outside as the 10.25 but the gears and differentials are different.

The gears for a semi-floating 10.25 amd a full-floating 10.25" are the exact same gears, I know this for a fact because when I changed gears in my semi-floating 10.25" I checked and the p/n are the same for both full floating and semi-floating
