On another thread I mentioned that my 31,900 mile tranny squatted. Unfortunately my three year warranty expired 6 months ago. The Tranny Tech said it was the "main support bearing"(?). Ford has offered to rebuild my tranny for no cost if I purchase a 2 year extended engine/drivetrain warranty for $495.00. Since they really don't have to do ANYTHING, I am very pleased with this resolution. With tax day coming up, this could have been a VERY ugly scenario.
I think it helped to mention that I'm a long term Ford owner.
These forums are filled with Ford stories both good and bad. I view this as a very fair resolution.
That's a great deal! Glad to hear they took care of you.
I just had the E4OD in my truck rebuilt for $1950. Would have happily paid $500 for an extended warranty instead.
Thanks NoMo,
They said that they "upgraded" it to the new specs too.
Hope its the last of my tranny issues
BTW they gave me a Ford Escort as a loaner (even though I was out of warranty). I immediately upgraded to a 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 V6 for an extra 5 clams a day. It's amazing how much power that little V6 puts out!
My service writer told me that the Main Support Bearing was re-designed in these trannys. What year they did it, I don't know.
They upgraded the parts to new specifications as well.
The warranty they sold me is 6 year, 70,000 miles for powertrain and engine. It starts from the truck purchase date, so that leaves 2.5 years and 38,000 miles to go
Now my Spark Plugs vs. aluminum heads are also covered. Hope I never need it
