I installed the Ford Gold Remote Start/Security System in my 2001 F150 some time ago, and its been great.
However, very infrequently (maybe once in fifty attempts), it will fail to fire on remote start. If I let it, it will repeatedly try but never fire. It acts like it did when first installed and the PATS was not satisfied (I had to reprogram and then it worked fine). Sometimes it will repeat this failure again on the same day, but then it always works when I get home and try to figure out the problem. And then it works fine for a long time.
Has anybody else seen this? Is it possible that I'm getting interference in some locations, or what could this be?
Is it cranking but won't start? I remember a post awhile back where someone was having problems, and someone wrote in to say they could lengthen the cranking period a little bit. In that case I was wondering if it needed a tune-up to help it start faster.
It sounds to me like it is losing the tach sense and cant start because it doesnt know the rpm of the cranking engine. Check the connection to your tach sense tap in.
If it is cranking but the theft light is flashing then you have a transponder issue.
