Cheapo unleaded is around 1.76 in SLC(fluctuating daily though..).

The F250/460 combo isn't seeing a lot of use right now

Smile Gas Price

These gas prices are outrages My light trucking divion is on hold right now. But how ever the landscapeing will be running next week. We are paying $1.75 per gal for unleaded & $1.75 for diesel in West Chesterfield NH today at the Shell staion. Now I am finding out that my 2000 F350 power stroke runs better with Shell. Good Luck and lets screem at the folks in office and get these prices down.

93 in my area is ranging from 1.83 to 1.87. Not to bad considering. Yeah I agree, 50 bucks a week to run my my truck is pretty rough. But a lot of countrys are paying almost 3.00 a gallon for gas. It's a very screwy situation.

all I know is that gas is about $2.21 a Gallon (SoCal) and i have to drive 45 miles each way to work. At 5 miles to the gallon that's almost 100 a week to get to and from work in my 81 f350 460. Guess i will have to fix my 36 mpg honda accord. just my .02.

I've heard someone say something about how gas is being stockpiled and prices will eventually go down. Can this be true?

The government has a "reserve" that is for "emergencies". Supply is not the problem. Greed is the problem. The oil companies make gigantic amounts of profit. As consumers, we are greedy too. We want big, huge vehicles that will outrun a sports car and pull a house off it's foundation. That is not a combination that will produce good fuel efficiency. Oh well. I ride the motorcycle when it's nice enough. 40 MPG is alot better than 11.

Actually, that is only part of it. Refining the oil is the rest. Each state (and sometimes areas within states) have different formulas that have to be added to the fuel for emission requirements. If we standardized this, cost would go down as well because it would broaden the market for each of the relatively few refineries we have.

I say relatively few because only like 5 new major refineries have been built in the last 20 years because no one wants them "in my backyard" but everyone seems to want the products they produce......

So oil is only half of the answer, the other part is making something out of it as cheaply and efficiently as we can, then using it logically.

I hate to admit it those big trucks and SUV are big business. To the big 3 without them they are history. Trucks and Suv's outsell cars by a long shot.
In the early to mid 1970s the big car market was the Big Three's bread and butter for decades - they let Japan have the small cheap car market. Looks like history will repeat itself, 2004 is starting to look a lot like 1974. Only this time it will be the Koreans with the cheap fuel efficeint Hundais and Kias. You look at an Accord or Camry and their fuel mileage isn't any better then a Taurus or Impala's. Back in 75-76 a Pinto, Corolla or Chevette would bring as much or more then a Continental or Fleetwood off the dealer's lot. Imagine a Focus or a Cavalier selling for more then a similar year Escalade or Suburban in 2005 .

I just heard about that. I've got guys working there in Texas City, but in the Marathon Plant, not BP. I haven't heard yet what caused it? Do you know?

as much as i hate to see one person driving a huge, useless excursion or yukon, they are the people that keep the economy going. if they bought a 25k car and sat the rest of the money in the bank, it would be bad for the economy. keep spending people.

as for gas prices, they will be going down soon.
