great....if you have a 2.75 rear gear ...you will get about 13 with a 460 and good god the thing will scxare ya to dearth on the highway.....My friends father had a 77 1/2 ton 460 c-6 2.75 rear ....that truck ran an honest 130mph i blew my f-350 460 4.10 gear truck off big time...and bobs dad claimed 14mph with a/c on at 75 mph..go 460 go 460...
400's are my favority engine, you have to build them right tho. The 460 is fine but it is hard to gear them right to get great gas mileage. Just too many cubes turning over. Great power tho.
now that Ive been thinkin I did build up a 400 for my cousin back in the 80's....it ran ok..got decent mileage....Im just a 460 junkie......well and 428's in FE engines..
Thanks Stephen, it's worth considering but probably not right now.
Torque, what sort of setup do you prefer in a 400? I plan to leave the 2bbl in place with all the factory items. The only mods I have planned at this point is a very mild cam to try to gain a little mileage, leaving the dual flowmasters, and probably upgrading to an MSD 6A down the road.
I'm not looking for big power, I've got that in my toys.
