My suspected "creaking balljoints" turned out to not be the problem!
Took it by the dealer today and it turns out the bolts holding the wheel hub/(brake disc?) and spindle had loosened. As soon as I got it to make the noise for the mechanic, he didn't need to hear much of it...sort of like he knew what it was just from the sound....so maybe this is something they've had before.
yeah, i wish i would've taken your advice last winter during bowhunting season, this was at highschool, after i stupidly got done rotating my tires, on the way out i backed into the lift and hear aloud ZZZZZZZZZZZz noise, yeah i punctured the sidewall, anyway, yeah i was in a huge hury and i put her back up on the lift and put spare on, tightened them up (w/o torque stick btw) and left, and two days later i hear this clunk clunk clunk on my way back from hunting, and the next turn WAM and i see my tire accross the lane, wow was this scary, i could've died and so could some else have, well everyone dont make my mistake lol
quackhead
I'm not talking about your lug bolts that hold your rim to the wheel hub. I'm talking about the bolts which are behind the wheel hub/brake disc. I'm sorry if I'm not using the exact terminology. Maybe someone can step in and clarify.
I know what you're talking about msova. My dad's 2000 Ranger makes a wierd noise when you shake it from side to side at the rear end.Is this the noise you're talking about??It sounds like a loose hub or something to me.Could that be it?
