Question cam opinions

with the new purchase of the 72 f-100 4x4. iam going to be doing some motor tweaking. now in the truck is a bone stock 360 ...iam going to be upgrading to: headers, 2 1/2" true duals, flowmaster 40's, edelbrock performer intake, 600 cfm edelbrock carb. and iam have trouble choosing a cam. i have been looking at the crane 343901 and the crane 343941. i like both of them but cant decide which one to go with. the truck will be basically a weekend ground pounder with some offroad, maybe some towing but nothing extensive. basicaly a truck to be proud of as well to put the fart-pipers in their place as well drown them out with the great sound of ford muscle (headers, 2 1/2"plumbing, flowmaster 40's, 4"x18" tips) any and all opinions on the cam choice are much appreciated....thanks in advance

If you're not upgrading to a 390 and not doing anything to get the compression up, I'd say either the 343901 or the 343971. I'd lean towards the 971 since a stock 360 only has about 8.5:1 compression.

On a more general note, I think people should look at their compression more when they try to determine which cam to run. The 941 needs a little more compression than your stock 360 will provide, and would hurt performance. Your stock 360 is in the range of compression for both the 971 and the 901 cam. I think the 971 will be a great cam for mileage, and will offer a great torque increase over stock. The 901 will offer more hp at the expense of a little low end torque. For pulling a trailer go with the 971. For racing ricers go with the 901. Only you can make that decision.
