Hi everyone. I normally hang on the FE motor site, but I need some help from professionals.
I have a 99.5 F-250 superduty diesel with an inoperable heater selection ****. What I mean is the selector is stuck on defrost and will not switch to dash vents, floor etc. It will turn the fan off when moved to off, but will do nothing else.
I took the **** off and it is not stripped and looked for a fuse with no luck.
Sounds like the vacuum pump is inoperative, or has a vacuum leak. Its mounted on the passenger side under the hood. It could have a blown fuse to it, so check them all carefully. If you have 4x4 it also provides vacuum to its solenoid and a vacuum leak in the 4x4 solenoid or any of the vaccum lines can create a vacuum problem for the vents.
