I am amazed that the responses have been so light hearted.

He's new, I usually let them dig the hole for awhile before I fillet them
Thats true, Greg. Its funny, I remember that fellow posting that "should I go with a 390 or a 460?" question in here not long ago. He also posted the same thread in the 385 forum. Then he acted surprised when the fe guys recomended the fe and the 385 guys recomended the 385. Now THATS a shocker
Although it does prove that we don't always recomend the engine with the bigger displacement...
Oh Hell Im not going to get into that Diesel thing again!!! Its since less!!! ya cant talk to a rock?? LMAO!!!And know offence Proeilator!!! (ROCKS IN THE HEAD) lol!!
We
HAVE 600hp keniesels out there that use 13 to 15 speeds to pull a 40,000lb load
And if there so affective?? 4 times the size engine..8 gallon oil pans!! and 5 mpg at best!!
Granted they have torque at 2800 rpm max... Now what would happen with a reverse senario?? Given the same CUBES!! And Gearing!! I rest my case!!! Russ!!
elemint- yes, as it was stated earlier, we do sometimes recommend a larger motor, as in 360 to 390 for example. But we stick with our FE series as well. These motors get the job done, and are probably the most reliable motor that Ford has produced (IMHO).
They just need a little massaging sometimes
Nowadays, yes fuel economy is a concern to some. But I don't think about that while I'm roasting the tires with a thousand pound load on my truck AND a trailer behind (it's an ego thing )
As far as driving a diesel car at 90mph being fun, try driving one of these old trucks at over 120mph, NOW that'll get your heart pumping. .
An ego thing? Oh yeah!
Are we biased? Oh Yeah!!
Is it overkill? OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The reason that they use a diesel engine in big rigs is very simple; diesel fuel has more engery per gallon that gasoline. if You get what I mean, it is more efficient at making power. you will get more heat from a gallon of diesel that a gallon of gas.
Are you on anti-depressants? Just kidding, but I keep hearing this yelling in my head... I"m getting a headache Totally agree with your past postings, so I'm not picking...
I had this big response written up, and decided to condense it to:
Does anyone else think we've been trolled?

You had better go back and read your books!! Diesels burn at a higher temp just to burn the oil in the fuel!!! its slow burning and a hotter burn...than a gas engine!!
Thats why the gas engine folks came up with the saying!! Its dieseling!! Run on!!!
Because the damn cylinders were so hot it kept on burning the fuel..There for keeping the engine running!! As Scouder would say!! Let the Flaming begin!! Russ!!
Russ, there's this cool little key, 2 over from the "M" key. It's called the period, and it's great. Just put one at the end of every sentence, and nobody thinks you're gonna explode. You should try it once, it works great. I do agree with your statements though. Just had to point (not exclamation point) that out.
Acesn8s, I agree.
Is it overkill? Yes.
Are we biased? Yes.
Is this a free country? Yes.
Can we spend money on whatever we want, and build the biggest, most powerfull, ugliest, hairiest, motor we want to? Heck yeah!
Do we have to build Chevy's just because that's what everyone else does, and because they're cheaper? NO.
Are we stupid/retarded/blind because of the above question? NO, we're individualistic, and that's the way we like it.
Lets keep on with the FE talk guys. There is good diesel discussion on this site though if you check you the Ford vs. competition forum and the diesel forums.
you have to like the aftermarket world for the diesels propane, 100hp chips and other stuff but i would take gas any day, they are funner and don't sound gay like a diesel.
