Our local volunteer fire dept had a fund raiser tonite. They were trying to fund a garage for their 'new' truck. They had located a 1968 F-350, with a firetruck rig on the back. This truck has 6714 miles on it! I about cried. It has been stored inside all of it's life. The interior looks like new. The seatbelts are still in the original plastic bags! These idiots are planning to make a grassfire rig out of it by welding a platform on the front. I'm just sick.. I'm going to go take a bunch of pictures of the engine compt. and interior. What a shame.
I garentee that the only reason that your fire dept.is doing this to an old truck is lack of money . If you would buy a newer (i.e. less valuable )truck for them , I'll bet they would be happy to trade.
I agree that they are broke but so am I. I have some pretty nice toys but I built them up myself. My work truck has 267,000 miles on it and needs replaced. Mama won't let me get a new truck and then give it to the fire dept. I just hate to see them screw it (the firetruck) up.
