hi performance coil question ????

hi performance coil question ????
Can you put a hi performance coil (40,000 volts) directly onto a 1979 original ignition system or could this burn out the "box"??? I know my new plug wires will handle it, however a friend told me to look into this as well!!

i have that right now i believe with my accel coil and have no problem. The important thing is the plus wires they have to be up to snuff. And have proper seperation. Thats about it.
