hi,,,was wondering if anyone would happen to know the cause of a heavy rattle when accelerating in 1st gear?? i was told its possibly the flywheel and that i could continue to use for quite some time,,97 ranger 119,000 miles thanks...bob
Can you be more specific about the rattle? It only does it in 1st gear? Only when accelerating? I'm assuming it's a stick shift and not an automatic. Can you feel it with your feet, or the steering wheel, or in the seat of your pants? Does it seem to be in the front, middle, or back? A little more info please.
what rpm...sounds like the infamous exhaust rattle. mine does it horribly from 1000-1500 rpm and only in 1st and 2nd oddly enough. its a pain to get rid of. i cant even get my hand on whats rattling and exhaust shops think im nuts.
I ripped one of the heat shields off, then a couple of months later I rip another, and another... I should have just taken the time to rip them all off at once!
thanks all...i actually wish it were the heat shield...however, i'm pretty sure it's tha clutch or flywheel...i think i shouldve stated that its more of a front end shake.....if the clutch seems to have some life,,,was wondering how long ive got with a bad flywheel....thanxxx again,,,,bob
