i know a guy who's getting rid of a whole shortbed truck, and the bed looks really decent, i bought the prop valve for the breaks. i dont know if he still has the truck or not but i can probably find out. its outside pittsburgh pa
could cut and weld a long box to short box dimensions it will be a task though. I cant think of the name od the company off hand, but I found all necessary panels to put a step bed together for my 79. not as cheap as a used bed but less expensive then a fiber one not to mention that cool factor.
I know of a guy that gets them from mexico, he usually charges between 600-1200 for them depending on trim levels and how many gas fillers there are, not to mention how 'little' rust they have on them too. If U want his phone number you'll have to email me, his name is "crazy eddie" and he likes to talk. I don't like him, just know he can get the shortbeds and has plenty of the longbeds for like $400.
I bought one a couple months ago for $225. It has zero rust and is a dual tank bed. It does have a small crease on the upper driver side, needs a new header panel (which is included) and the seller included a nice rust free rear tank as well. Only drawback, it is half a country away from me at the moment. My dad is delivering it to me this summer when he comes to visit. There are deals out there, just keep looking.
