Making the most of Diablo chip??
Im rebuilding my 1990 351w this summer with the following mods:
bore .30 over
k&n fipk
headers
port/polish stock heads
also a MUCH torque-ier cam with a matching torque converter
and of course a Diablo chip.
Ive noticed that everyone is saying not to go lower than 114 for lobe separation with speed density cuz it will mess with the computer. But if i'm getting a chip burned will it really matter. I dont even know what lobe separation is really or how it will affect HP but I hope someone can help me out so the world can enjoy another well built ford truck.
Also any concerns or suggestions on my planned build would be appreciated (aside from changing gears though!)

Do yourself a favor and buy a good book on engine building basics. I can recommend a few if you want. If you don't know what lobe separation is, you shouldn't be doing this build with a speed density system until you learn the basics about it . Yes, it will matter. While it can be compensated for with a chip, there are idle and emissions considerations.
