Yesterday (in a rainstorm, of course) the vertical weatherstrip which seals the back of the sliding section pulled off. I see a yellowish strip; apparently adhesive.
Anybody had this happen and can provide some advise?
I just bought a new (used) 2003 Super Crew Cab F150 with the power rear slider. The vertical seal was loose (on the dealer lot) and it is still under warranty so I dropped it off to get it reglued (or so I thought). The dealership said they have to replace the whole rear window just to take care of a detached vertical seal. It is on Ford's nickel so not a big deal to me but if this is a common problem, then Ford is gonna be out some bug bucks over the next few years. If I was paying, I'd just glue it back in.
Good luck,
Chuck

The seal just stuffs into the slot it came out of. Obviously the felt side goes toward the glass and extra length is just stuffed into the upper and lower ends of the slot. I'd just clean that old adhesive out of the slot, clean the seal, apply a thin bead of sealant into the slot, and stuff the seal back into the slot. Does this make any sense?
I was in the same rainstorm (Sunday)and when it was really coming down instead of the back window leaking my pushout window behind the driver side was leaking. It ended up being something simple. With the back window I would just clean it up really good and then reglue it back on.
Thanks folks! Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I guess I'll just use some silicon seal. I don't want it so strong that the strip tears rather than coming off. Do you think there's any good way to lubricate the felt side so it slides more easily against the fixed glass?
