I need to get a working egr setup (or at least one that looks like it is working) on my 351w.
I know the stock 351w HO has an EGR plate. Unfortionately, it was disconnected and everything was unhooked. Where does the plate get its exhaust from? the y-pipe the connects the heads, or the intake manifold? I have a non-EGR edelbrock manifold, and didn't know the differences. Worse cast, I guess, I could bolt the plate back on and get it to pass the visual.
The EGR gets its exhaust through the intake manifold, so if you have a non-EGR Edelbrock you're SOL as far getting the EGR working again. The visual only might work, though, if you get the EGR plate and put it between the carb & intake and connect the vacuum lines.
thats kinda what I thought. I just have to pass the visuall, so that will be ok then, at least until they bring in full emissions.
btw, what is that y-pipe in the back that connected the heads together? part of the AIR system? I thought the AIR was pumped in right into the manifolds.?
Yeah, that pipe at the backs of heads is for AIR, there is a passage inside the head that routes the AIR to the holes in the "bumps" in the exhaust ports. I think only the HD motors had the AIR in the manifolds too.
