Transmission troubles

I'm thinking of buying a 1992 Ford Ranger with a 5 speed transmission. But it only has 4th and reverse all other gears are gone. every quote I've had for fixing it has been around $1500. I need info on where to get a kit.

thats how much it will cost you. it needs a rebuild and rebuild kits are up there too.

do a google search for manual transmission rebuild kits or something like that.

You may want to check out my thread that has been ongoing about my bad trans. I ended up with ONLY a noisy 4th and no other gears. I bought a remanufactured trans for about $800ish with the shipping and all. Still waiting to put it in. I will be updating my original thread. Hope it helps, there is alot of good info on why these things go bad.
