Explorer Noises?

I've got a 97 EB X with about 90k on it. Engine wise, the thing seems to be running well, but lately I've found it to be making a few odd noises.

1st:

When I brake, I hear not so much a metal on metal grinding noise but more of just a grinding noise without metal. I'm thinking this could simply be the cheap brake pads I used to replace my old ones with? Simple fix might be just buying better quality ones?

2nd:

Been hearing what I thought was the brakes rubbing the rotors while I'm driving (thought possibly a bent rotor). But I jacked it up and removed the front wheel to find that the brakes and rotors weren't rubbing at all. The noise seems to be coming from the front left of the car, almost like metal is rubbing together. I haven't had a lube job in awhile, either, though...

3rd:

If I put weight on the driver side in the front I get a lot of noise when the car tries to come back up. Possibly a bad/blown shock?

Thanks.

Same thing happened to me, with the supension noise. Heard alot of sound and replaced the shocks. I started by replacing the front left (which was in questionable health). I then went to the right, since I had the tires off I was doing a lube and inspect. And noticed i was missing a chunk of rubber on my sway bar bushing. The bracket had reshaped itself and was rubbing the sway bar, I have a set of poly ones with zerk fittings on order.
