Speedometer recalibration

I did the recalibration of my speedo on my 96 F-150 302 e40d a/t according to the article in the tech section. I made a mistake and went to far. Originally the speedo was set at 972 for 235 tires. I changed it to 886 to go with my 32/1150 tires. I believe that it should be around 904 and I need to go back up in numbers and if you have ever done this you can't because as you hit the select button the numbers keep going down. If I keep hitting the button will it go down so far and trip back to the upper end of the scale? I checked my speedo against the 1 in the wifes explorer and when she was going 55 I was going 58. Any help would be great!!!!

Those tires roll out at 655-660 per mile. That makes the correct conversion constant somewhere between 8.84 and 8.91. Look up your tires at the manufacturer's web site or at the Tire Rack. Look for the revs/mile. Multiply revs/mile x .0135 to get the correct conversion constant. You are probably exactly where you need to be. Your wife's speedo may be off.
