I registered with that site awile back.I thought it was great until they wanted money. There is nobody on the list that I care to pay for interaction with.lol.I don't have anything against the site though. It's worth it if you really want to get in touch with old friends.
once ya register there, you will get inundated with people who were your classmates but who dont even know you selling everything from mortgages to viagra and snake oil...like 99% of the internet ( save this site of course) its another scam
I don't have much use for friends that I had in high school. We just grew into different kinds of people...Still exchange christmas cards, but that's about it....Funny thing though....I still run into the fiends parents every once in a while...Now I think that I probably get along better with the friends parents than the friends....
I left home shortly after high school, and even though I was oly a few miles away, just never really had much of a connection witht he rest of the gang. It took the death of my grandmother early this year for me to bump into one of my old girlfriends. Now we sort of keep in touch via email. After twenty years, I feel like I may have missed out on some opportunities for a lasting friendship.
I have found an old friend after ten years of loosing track. We're both happy to get back in touch. I was found buy another friend who was looking to mend some wounds after the passing of her husband. Hadnt seen either of them in 12 years.
Funny how things work. I moved 1200 miles from home. Turns out two high school classmates are within an hours drive. I dont pay for classamtes.com, but I am registered for the free version. All in chance that someone might want to touch base sometime. It worked.
I've got one friend from high school but technically he's from much earlier. He and I met when I was in the 5th grade and remained friends. We don't get to see each other that much but we still stay in touch and I consider him a brother.

We got the free Classmates thing too. I wasn't going to pay for it to get two people's email addresses though. I found one of them on my own, and we caught up after 10 years. Also found out through my mother that one of my classmates plays for the Mets now. So Classmates has been useless except for sending me annoying emails and finding out who isn't dead yet.
Classmates used to be a very good site. In the early days they allowed all registered users to use the message base. They had very high participation from the user base at that time. But alas, they got greedy and changed all that. Now only paying members can leave messages. Over the last few years since they changed to this strict pay policy, the message base use has dropped to next to nothing. I did join for one year as I was working with our reunion committee to locate missing people from 3 different high schools.
If a paying member does send you an email, you can answer back through Classmates, but you will not know their email address. I suggest if this does occur, you make sure you include your email address and request they send theirs to you via email.
