I am delighted to say I just bought a bright red 56 f-100. Has stock suspension, a 302 with a C-4. Power brake master from a 96' I don't know where to begin, I may have a few questions!

Packrat,
You came to the right place for questions for sure. Sounds like it's already on it's way to becoming a full fledged rod...next comes the suspension update.
Yeh, you'll get lots of answers to your questions; and many of them will be correct. What's your plan for the truck? Mild, Wild, drive as-is, etc.? Good luck, John
Welcome.... you'll get plenty of answers here, ...even some to your questions!
Enjoy, it's a great journey, lot's of fun, and you don't have to go it alone. Keep us posted of your progress. Are you planning to drive it this summer?
Hi packrat. Congratulations on buying your truck As for a place to start, you might create your gallery so we can get a look at it.lol.You'll find lots of help here.Good luck.
Looks like you got a good start.. I got a 302 in my '51 and like it a lot it does a good job..... despite what you hear around here from the BIG trucks. You have found the place where opinions are plentiful and facts are up for discussion.
Thanks for the welcome! My plan with this 56’ is to make it stock a looking body, with modern, safe, and reliable mechanical components. I need it to be my primary transportation to work every day, so reliability will be my first goal. I sure will get a gallery going; she is a fine looking truck already, needs details! Horn won’t work no dash lights, all that stuff and more, that was neglected by a previous owner with little interest in details. I will have many questions, I am glad you folks are patient

An admirable goal and it just happens to coincide with my own. Since you plan to make this truck your primary transportation, brakes and handling are two aspects you should concentrate on. Get rid of the straight axle which is not kind on city streets and install an IFS. Add disc brakes so you can drive in traffic safely...
