After reading many many posts on 3.0 and which plug to use i decided to take a look at mine, i just bought a 2000 b3000 that had 50.000 miles on it, it did not seem to be getting better than 17mpg so i figured id give it a tune up, first thing that i noticed was that the plugs came out way too easiy, then next was the they where bosch plugs, well after 20min of changing the plugs im pretty sure that my mpg will be a little better, wow what a difference, i checked all the plugs and whent with the gap that they where set at, .42, yes i know .44 is what they call for, used app764 autolite plugs, now i can let off the clutch in 1st, roll out a little, punch it,, and i can smoke the tires pretty well,i have allready opened up the air box, put a mass air chip in,an opened the cats., which all helped! but it never felt right untill i junked the bosch plugs!! i just called the last owner wondering how long they had been in,,,,,,,,less than 5,000 miles! BETTER IDLE,FAST RESPONSE,MORE POWER,,,,,,DONT WAIST YOUR TIME WITH BOSCH IN A 3.0!!!
I had the same experience on my 1999 3.0L FFV. The previous owner had installed Bosch plugs, and the truck only had 36K miles on it....The only difference, mine had a
dead mis i it, when loading the engine....
I have a 2000 3.0 flex also and am glad to hear that the Autolite APP764 work great since I am about to put them into mine. Can't take them back since I already cut out the bar codes off each plug box for the $1.00 rebate offered for each plug (total of $6.00). This is good news.
yup.... same here.... truck was running OK when i bought it.... thought i would do my wallet and the truck a favor and put new plugs in it (bosch) truck ran horrible, tried another set of bosch..... ran horrible..... decided to go back to what were previously in there..... the autolite 764's and its NICE! running way better now. anyone know the EXACT size of a gas tank in a 94 ranger 4cyl single cab 5speed? i just pulled 325 miles on 1 tank..... can go more (about 1/16th of a tank still) but this is where i draw the line about low fuel
nice to hear that i wasnt the only one that had problems with bosch plugs
