Hey Gothy...just a little idea here. If they wanted $300 for the monroe reflexes, and you are willing to pay that kind of cash. Check out the Rancho RS9000 - these are 9 way adjustable. My friend put these on his SUV and they are the best shock I have ever seen. I have seen them for about $250 a set mailorder from any 4x magazine. Each shock has a small dial on them. In about 30 seconds you can adjust the shocks, even set the front and rears a little difrent. But you can fine tune to the perfect ride for you, or set it firmer for carying a heavy load or towing a trailer. Installing yourself is really not too dificult and only requires some basic tools. They were a little out of my price range, but I have driven my friends SUV,it's not a ford so I won't mention it brand, but most midsize suvs are generaly the same in that they are top heavy wich cause more body roll than I care for. In any case I have seen the difrence it makes in being able to set the shocks just firm enough to take out some of the body roll, yet adjust the rear shocks a setting down to still have a decent ride. Anyway you should look into them if you can spend the extra $$$$ on them.
I just replaced my shocks with edelbrocks, it took 15 minutes a corner. The Explorer handles great, on and off road 20 times better than stock. But they are a bit pricey about $70 a shock. Drop the spare tire...is my only advice and good luck getting a torque wrench on the upper left rear if you do-it-yourself.
