10.25" dually conversion

What will it take to put dual rear wheels on a F250 with the 10.25 sterling full floating axle?

Are the actual dually rear ends wider or are the hubs just different? I dont care at all about the front using the same rims so its just the rear end?

I'd like to do this (if possible) without expencive aftermarket kits.

What are my options for this project?

dually's run the dana 70 rearend. I haven't heard of making the 10.25" into duals. your best bet is to find a factory dually to rob the rear from. make sure it's a factory bedded dually because the factory cab & chassies use a norroer frame.

do a search in this forum you'll find a complete write-up of this swap. I believe it was by greywolf. it'll step you riight thru it.

Good idea on using the Dana 70. It's a stronger axle anyways and would be a bolt-in swap as long as the gear ratio is the same. You didn't say what year your truck is. I don't know what year they started using it, but the later trucks (say, ~'89 and up) have a speed sensor in the rear axle for the ABS and electronic speedo. I think dually's also used different width rear springs, but I don't know if that would be an issue as long as you use your current springs.
