Gas Gauge Problem
For instance, if I have a 1/4 tank and put $38 worth of gas in it, the gauge remains at 1/4 tank. The only way I've been able to get the gauge to go up to full was to turn the key and wait for the gauge to go to full and then crank the vehicle. If I crank it right away, it doesn't work.
It didn't use to do this and I recently had coil pack #7 replaced and air induction cleaned and fuel filter replaced and noticed it since that has happened.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
Thanks everyone, appreciate any advice you might have.
someodd pin connector on the back of the insturement cluster pod, as you are facing the cluster it is the one on the left side, the pins are of a cantalever design & they just seemed to get a little loose I took a dental pick
& just pulled the pins out just a little bit, the way to find the correct pins on the harness is just follow the copper circuit on the back of the unit to the pins on the harness [ I just did all of them just to make sure that I did the job right the first time]. As soon as I put it back together & turned the key it came right back up to the 3/4 mark & that did corespond to the amount of gas & mileage on the overhead consle. The way I knew the problem was in the back of the cluster was because I hit a pothole & it marked correctly for about one mile & then went back up to the beyond full mark [past the f]
looking the schematic for the pod wireing if it looses contact it goes in to open loop thinking it is totaly full. This repair cost me nothing & was a permanent repair to the vehicel all the way up till I traded in for my current
