Steering gearbox?

I am convinced forums like this are the best by-product of the internet! I need some advice please. Have a 70 F100 that the steering went out on(fortunately just driving in a parking lot!) It is not the rag joint as it seems still together. I can pull the lower steering column about 1/2 inch out of the top of the gear box and if you turn the wheel the column seems to thread out of the box anout an inch or so. How difficult are these boxes to change? Is that the pitman arm on the bottom that must be pulled off? Thanks.

This change is very simple and easy. I did a power steering conversion to my 70 F250 camper special last weekend. It took 12 hours and the cost was 80.00. I got my setup from a 1976 f250 4x2. I took the whole assy from the steering wheel and column to the pump, brackets, belt and hoses. If you find a doner truck take the whole steering system. E-mail me if you have additional questions.

Yes, that's the pitman arm attached to the steering box. When you pull the steering box leave it. Separate from the rod end with a pickle fork.
