Lifter/bearing problem? Need help!
I have a 79 F-250 4x4 with a 400 in it. When I was driving it last, the engine started making a clicking noise (it sounds like the lifters, perhaps) but I kept driving it as I wasn't at a good place to stop. As I was driving, the noise got steadily louder until the truck started sounding like a diesel -- only louder! A little later the oil pressure started dropping. It was at the middle of the normal range then dropped to a quarter and held steady, then dropped to the bottom end of the normal range and held steady until I stopped the truck. After it had cooled a while, the engine sounded like it had at first -- just the mild lifter noise.
The engine had a hard time recently when the radiator and water pump went out within a few months of each each other and it dumped the coolant both times. One of the times it started boiling before I could get it parked. Both times it got pretty hot. I've been told that it is most likely the main bearings or it could just be a plugged lifter, but I wanted to get some more ideas as I would like to get this fixed as cheaply as possible.
I appreciate any advice you can give me.
Thanks!

The diesel sound is prob from low or no oil pressure, what has caused this condition is anyones guess.
IMO, doesnt sound cheap
