E4OD oil level???

Hi all, I'm new this site...

I have this problem. Recently I got a used E4OD from a yard, but it comes with no oil tube and dip stick, It was rebuilt and upgraded with a deeper oil pan for extra coling.

Now I need to know wich is the right oil level to adapt oil tube and dip S. of course I can't simply put oil as Ford say and mark level because the bigger oil pan.

My question is: is there any way to know the right oil level mesuring something instead of adding oil and mark???

Any feedback will be appreciated;

Regards;

A wild guess...

Since you are really only concerned with the level of fluid and not it's depth, I would try the factory dipstick and tube. Since most tubes I have seen(not very many vut a good handful) all seat from the outside of the pan so they all stick down into the pan the same amount, regardless of how deep the pan is, as long sa the oil reaches the correct level on the dipstick, the oil will be above the oil pickup and slosh around the valve body as normal. The pan may be deeper, but all we are worried about is that it is high enough, if you get my description.

One point to consider someday when you drop the pan, maybe the owner did not use the proper length oil pickup and you may be interested in getting the proper length to reach down near the bottom of the pan. I would assume this would help prevent picking up any air, but really shouldn't matter as long as the level is as described above.

Don't bet on what I said above but thinking thru it, it sounds right. The oil level should be just below or bathing the valve body and definitely over the pickup. A dipstick tube that mounts from the outside will sit at the same level below the valve body regardless of how deep the pan is. Most deep pans are meant to increase the amount of total fluid for lubrication and cooling sake, not to lower the level of the fluid away from the valve body. least in my guessing.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

I agree with Jim, the ATF level should be the same on the dipstick.....

Yes !!! I agree both. Now the question is:

Some one had notice what's the distance between High level mark and the ail tube stop point? I mean:

All oil tube have same shape where it get in the tranny tube so they stop in same point. If some one has an oil tube and dipstick at hand, could messure distance betwen that point and High and Low mark, isn't it?

Thanks for your help guys... Any extra info will be appreciated.

Update Info...

Hi, afriend told me just put the oil tube and dipstick in tranny after removing oil pan, then use the aluminum case border as High level mark and the Low level mark should be about 3/8" lower...

Any comments???? Thanks;
