Gauge lighting?

Where did everyone who has installed gauges get their power for the lighting from? Banks says (I'm not using Banks, but have their instructions) to use a fuse tap for the intrument cluster lights. This is not labled in the 6.0L fuse diagram. I tested, one by one, all of the fuses. None of the fuses that are cold when the lights are off became hot when the lights were turned on. I should say that I tested all of the mini fuses....I did not test the maxi fuses.

So, did everyone use a fuse to tap into? Which number? Or did you all splice into a wire somewhere else? Where? Or maybe it needs to be wired someplace completely different?

Thanks!

After thinking about it a little more, I suppose I could run wire to tap directly into a parking/tail light. That isn't the route I wanted to go, since the wire would show somewhere and I don't really like leaving things with an unclean look. But it would work.

I believe my derections had me tap into the dimmer switch for the dash lights.Yes on my directions they tell you to tap into the dimmer switch this way you'll also be able to dim the gauge lights.

Use the blue wire with red stripe for the dimer switch. Just did mine, works fine.

How do you get the switch out of the dash?

There is a little slit for a flat screwdriver on the bottom of the face plate that the dimmer switch is mounted in. Just took a little bit of gentle prying and it popped right out. The blue w/red wire is right on top. Worked out really slick. Thanks again!
