Model A

Where in the world do you ppl find Model A's. It seems like just about everyone on here has one or had one. Ive been looking for the past 10 yrs and cant find one anywhere. That is my dream car and i would love to have one to do an old school custom. I have found me a flat head v8 now i just need the sweet car to go with it. Id even take a T bucket, or even as old as a 33 or 34. For those that have them, how long did it take yall to restore it or get it like u wanted it? Heck if i cant find a Model A, then the only other thing id take is a 49 chopped down customized mercury lead sled, lol. Anyway just wanted to vent about my dream car that i cant ever find, lol

Go to some of your local car shows. There's usually some guy there with one, and he'll probably know of others that are for sale. He might even be in a Model A club, and a lot of those guys have more than one of em.

Just what I said.
By the time you find or buy whatever you need to restore or build a certain way it works out to cost more than it would have, to search for one that is already done-up & then, Write the Cheque.

Right off the top if you don't do bodywork/paint you can count on $5000-$8000 just for painting.

I also typed a link in my first reply that would help anyone in figuring out the financial output & time committed to a project.
A rare breed is someone who is both a Mechanic & a Bodyman.

Mine has been in the family before my parents were married.
Wonder if that means we were not a family then……hum….at any rate I rode home from the hospital, after mom brought me into this world. My first ride in a Ford, or any car for that matter………..still have it.

I have restored many of old cars & trucks & I would not say it cost to much you have to know what you are doing. I do the Mech work and my best friend do,es the painting so I save money. I just don,t shell out money for the first part I come across ether I look around Model As are easyer than you think. There are a lot of great parts out there that are priced well and not to the cleaners. That is why they call it a hobby. I also go to a lot of flea markets there are great deals there too.

Well i have found an original one for 7 grand, and one for 4 grand. The one for 4 grand has been burned a little but not to bad at all. The one for 7, the only thing not original is they took out the wood top and welded in metal. I found a 36 for about 1600, but man thats a little to new, lol. Oh well i guess ill keep looking. Whenever i find one, it will for sure be retro with the flathead 8 in it, and wide white walls .

Thats a joke right? I'm sure original would bring in some cash if restored properly if he decided to sell it.

But what fun is it if you can make modifications to the power plants.

Worth considerably more when it is original, you DE_VALUE the car by hot rodding it, and again why. By a hot rod no need to ruin a vintage car.
