Have had my f250 superduty supercab 4x4 for less than a month with less than 1000 miles, and rust has formed on the lower front axle ends, all tie rod theads, and other brackets and things, even the steering box is rust covered. Is this normal for the Superduty or did they forget to paint mine?
I have rust on mine too, after 3 months of ownership. I was thinking about using some paint but did not want to screw anything up by doing so.
Did you get any dealer or aftermarket under coating?
The factory doesn't paint certain front end parts due to assembling problems w/ paint getting into threads, bearing seats, etc. Dow Corning makes a product called 'metal protective coating' thats a spray wax which dries and seals the metal. I've used it on just about everything under the truck that started to rust--works great. It won't wash off, even with pressure washing. Only a solvent will remove it. Just be careful spraying around the brakes.
One week after I got it I had it undercoated it is a Little expensive but what the heck I am protecting a very expensce truck and I will keep it for a very long time, and every year I go back and they clean it and respray it at a cost of $25.00 not to bad
There are thousands of tiny rust spots on our white 98 Explorer Sport. All are under the clear coat (not caused by rail dust as you will undoubtly be told at dealer), under the hood, and under the tailgate glass. Also has bubbled up rust on factory running boards, on white panel under front bumper, and rust in cracks of roof rain gutters that run the length of car. Chrome factory rims are corroded beyond shine. We have owned 30 cars in as many years and never seen anything like this. Dealer attempted to repair some of problems and all returned in less than a month. Since then, we have gotten no cooperation. I think Ford has a serious problem.
I HAVE A 99 F250 SD WHITE IT HAS RUST SPOTS ALL OVER IT AFTER 6 MOS. THE FRONT CHROME BUMPER IS RUSTING UNDER THE CHROME.MY DEALER HAS ORDERED A NEW BUMPER AND HAVE DONE WHAT THEY CALL CLAY TREATMENT TO PAINT.THEY WAXED IT THEY PAINTED MY TIRES BLACK THEY SWEPT IT OUT,IT LOOKS LIKE A NEW TRUCK THAT IS RUSTING AWAY.THE DEALER CALLED IT RAIL DUST AND THEY KNOW IT IS STILL THERE.
