78 crew cab info
I own a 1978 f250 crew cab. 400ci. 4spd. 4wd.
How rare is this truck? Was if factory built? I have no AC, was that an option? Can I install AC? Any info on old crew cabs would be helpful

Sounds like a cool truck John... Yes you can install AC - lots of articles about it in the AC section. I don't know how rare your truck is but that configuration is one of my favorites. I don't think a huge number of crewcab 4wd's were produced but others will know more. How about putting some pictures of it in your gallery?

I have a '78 F-250 crewcab 4x4 with the 300i6 np435 and np205 It is in the restification process right now. As far as I know mine was built in Canada and served as a work truck on the Alaskan pipline, I think I am the 4th owner, my Dad was 3rd. I am also curious how many were made and what the options were.

I just finished a complete re build of a 78 crew cab f-250 short box 4x4. very cool trucks. they are hard to find in good shape, but not too hard to find . most were used as work trucks.there is many in western canada. they were built in ontario canada. f-250's came in short boxs, f-350's came in long boxs. both in 4x4 and 2x4 drivetrains.good luck with yours

About 1500 units per year were produced. I have a 79 f-250 crewcab that is in orignal condition except for propane conversion. There is a yahoo group for this class of vehicles. I got lucky and the orignal owner ordered a Ranger XLT model. I also have a 79 f-100 , my favorite vehicle.
