I Love power and speed as much as anybody, but my trucks are work trucks. I really want the new ones to run as well as the old ones.
Does the Predator or any of the other "software" type upgrades, fix the drivability problems like rough idle, lag, etc...?
I'm considering buying three of them for a current truck and two that are being delivered this week just for that reason. I'd run them on the lowest setting. (My drivers don't need any more power, I can't afford the insurance.) Just to make the trucks run better and pick up the mpg. I don't need hot rod trucks, just reliable ones.
Give the motorhaven staff a call - they can help...
My $.00002 ?
You could set it at the 40HP mode and eliminat a lot of the issues, but you'd have to have at the least, the December flash.
Mine is the June build date with the original flash. The predator solved the transmission shifting problems I had originally. I run it in the 65 HP performance/Mileage setting. There are no software issues at all with my truck running the Predator.
What is the predator ruuning price wise for one of the 6.0 psds?
Just wondering.
Thanks,
PSDboy

These guys are FTE and have "Specials" so call them on the phone for the latest price. They also have a reputation for giving great service.
I think the going price is around $400. If you compare that with the Edge or Banks product the Predator is cheap. The Predator does a lot more than a add on chip. Also, the Predator continues to get better. We have had two updates already.
I just got mine last week. Call them. They will beat any price out there plus overnight shipping. Motorhaven was great. And it came with the latest update already installed. I have been procrastinating for a months on getting the Predator. Get it and get it from Motorhaven. You won't regret it. I like the diagnostics in addition to the programs. I am running the 65HP performance/economy tune. I can't imagine what the 100 HP tune would be like. Downright scary!
Thanks for some many replys so fast! i will check this out. I think this was discuused in another forum, and sorry for bringing it up again. Can ford tell if you have used this predator or not? As you may have read on so of my other post, i am having some "ISSUE's" with my truck. I dont want ot buy this thing and then have ford say, well that is what caused your problem. Even though my prob were before i would have purchased this thing.

The Predator really helps on I-35! The way all the semis drive in the left lane, forces us to pass them in quick "bursts" in the right lane. The elimination of the speed limiter helps also because the "bursts" can last a little bit longer!
By the way, I found the Mobil Delvac 1 yesterday at Allied Sales in Austin for $85 per case. It really made the engine quiet!
Where is Allied Sales in Austin? Is that the IH dealer on 7th?
Traffic in Austin really sucks due to old highway design. Occasionally you have to jump on it to take advantage of openings in traffic. First time I did that with the Predator, it really startled me. You have to experience it to understand what an improvement over factory program.
To me the all out POWER the +100 HP gives is startling...
but the best feature I like about it is that when you want to go... IT GOES !
It responds quicker than it ever did with full throttle when stock at about 1/3 throttle with the Predator!
REALLY does the right things to the engine and gives crisp shifts !!!
The tranny always shifted a little firmer when first going in the morning...
now with little throttle I can chirp the tires in second !!! TOO COOL !

Bob - may have to try that oil on next change too if your results are that good...

And as far as Ford finding out if you don't wnat them to know????
The juries still out on ALL the modules not just the predator...
but if you are completely replacing the programming and clearing all codes like the predator lets you... I would suspect you're in good shape...
I've never tried to hide it, but the dealer hasn't said anything in two or three trips since getting the predator...

If you install the Predator, and then take it to the dealer, can they reflash your computer and wipeout the Predator program? Can you use the predator over and over again, or is it a one time shot? When I had an F150 with a 302, I bought a programmer to enhance performance, and they said that you had to detune it, i.e. return it to factory programming prior to going to the dealer, because if the dealer ran diagnostics they would not be up to spec, and the dealer would reprogram and you would lose the upgrade. It was not reuseable unless you detuned. Also, do you need to upgrade exhaust system and precooler to keep from fying your turbo? If these seem like basic questions, forgive me because I'm playing catchup in this age of computer controlled trucks.
