I have a 95 F350 Crewcab with a 460. I am entetaining the idea of swapping in a manual 5-speed. Does any one have any ideas on how hard and the logistics needed?
Is it currently a manual or auto? 4x4 or 2wd? The ZF 5speed was used in F250's and 350's so it should mate up to your engine if you get one with the big block bell housing.
It currently has an E40D auto, I'm on my second transmission in 75,000 miles and I want to go to manual. It is 4x4. Do I have to do anything with the computer?
Yes, computer is oing to set Error codes because doesn't find tranny info. Right way is replace computer BUT I had read that Ford can replace just the chips inside and use a set of chips programed for manual tranny and 4X4.
