Just added the clearance roof lights on my 2002. I followed Motomans excellent instructions and noticed one thing when I was done. The lenses do not actually rest on top of the cab on some of the lamps. There is a slight gap between the roof and the base of the lamp. What is happening is the foam gasket isn't compressing down enough and I have them on tight. I don't want to crank down on the nut and risk cracking the paint or bending metal. Anybody else add the clearance lights and notice a slight gap in some lights? Just curious.
My stock roof lights have a small gap on them. I just used some clear silicone and sealed them up. I have to replace the silicone if I change a bulb, but that is no big deal to me. I have noticed a lot if not most of the trucks around here with roof lights have small gaps on them.
I also want to add the Clearance Lights to my 250. I printed out the instructions from Motoman, and they make it look easy.
Where did you get your lights and harness? I called one dealer and they have the lights, but did not list the harness. I havent did any more checking cause I been taken care of Honey Do`s.
Was it as easy as it looks?????? Thanks
i got my lights and wire harness from my local dealer. I think it was around $5.99 for each light and around $40 for the harness.
I didn't install them myself, there's just some sort of uneasiness with drilling holes into the roof of my truck. Paid $80 and had a local upholstry shop do it. Printed out Motomans instructions and gave it to them. Figured they install sunroofs so a smaller hole is easier for them!
