GAS MILEAGE
I am thinking about buying a 2000 F250 SUPER DUTY 2wd long bed. what kind of gas mileage will I get with a V8 gas 5.4 auto with 3.73 rear? How about with the V10 auto with 3.73 rear? I do about 75% freeway and 25% city. We do not have to think about weight in the bed or towing at this time. THANKS DON

I have a
Y2K F250 XLT SC 4x2 5.4L 5sp 4.10LS rear
I've kept track of mileage on every tank..
Overall average= 15.5 mostly mixed city/highway driving.
15.1 if I do more city driving.
17.4 on my last 'road trip' to the beach and back that was mostly highway with a few lights in small towns.
I doubt that you'd get much better with the 3.73 in either city or highway. The 4.10 really keeps the engine at a good rpm (not too high) when cruising, yet keeps you from having to drop outta OD on every tiny hill etc..
I really hesitated on the 4.10 vs the 3.73 cause I thought my mpg would goto the crapper, but I really wanted limited slip. I'm glad I went with the 4.10LS..
