Just tested my A/C today and the lowest I can set the temperature is 16 Celcius. In fact it goes down one degree at a time until 19 c then jumps down to 16 c. Is this normal with other Canadian 04s?
If you go to the opposite end of the temp range, it will jump from 85F to 90F (your 19 to 16 jump is equal to a 65-60 drop here). These are the MAX settings, will cause fan to go to highest speed and STAY there till you change temp manually.
If that is the lowest setting, do you still get sufficient cooling for those 30 plus C days? Any complaints about not cooling enough? We here in the cold north haven't had a chance to give it a workout - yet!!
Thanks
I read a previous thread that discussed the inability of the ETAC system on the Lariat to work properly. From what I read, when the ETAC is set to AUTO, it takes the outdoor temperature and uses it to base how it cools (or heats) the interior. The system does not seem to take into account the impact on the interior of the sun beating through the windshield.
We had a couple mid-70s days here in Virginia a couple weeks ago (in fact, it's supposed to hit 73-75 deg F here today), and I noticed that when I set the ETAC system to 70 degrees, it was still much hotter in the truck due to the sun being out. On cloudy days it seems to work better, so that would lead me to believe it doesn't take the greenhouse effect into account when the sun is out.
In order to get the interior comfortable, I had to turn the AUTO setting to off and set the system on MAX AC to get the interior cooled down. It was only in the low 70s outside, so I shudder to think what it will be like when it gets up to 100F here.
I'm hoping that before summer arrives, Ford might be able to reprogram the system to work better. It's great that so many problems can be fixed now with a simple download! In the old days, you were just plain stuck with it.
Perhaps some of the Ford techs that read this forum can answer your question with a more technical explanation. I can only tell you what I have experienced so far.
